This is Real Life
If you walk in to my house right now at this very moment, what would you expect to see?
I mean, I’m a Home Organizing Educator, so I’m guessing you may think I’ve got it all figured out in a way that means my home is spotless.
Well, nothing could be further from the truth.
I do have it figured out and that is what I want for you too.
The current state of my home shows that we are living life, not cleaning up after it incessantly.

Any moment in time, you’d walk into my home (because you are truly always welcome) and find it looking something like this. Some days better, some days worse.
I don’t have to apologize for it and neither do you!
Have you ever taken the time to think about why you apologize to your guests for how your home looks?
I think about this often and have come up with one main thing. I’m sure for you it may be something just a bit different or with a twist.
I’ve found that in our society we see too much of what other people are doing and we feel like we should be doing the same too. With social media, we see our friends, family, acquintances and even strangers having these homes that look magazine worthy.
Whether we realize it or not we get sucked in and we think that this is normal. To have a home that looks meticulous.
Even though we’re intellegent and realize that what we see isn’t always reality (or is rarely reality), we still feel compelled to organize the right way. We think if we can’t organize like the experts say, then there’s something wrong with us.
Not true!
We are all different!
We think different and we organize different!
You are an organized person. You are organized in your own way and simply need a little guidance to really bring out all the things that work best for you, your family in your current season of life!
Are you seeing how that’s different than what we’ve been told by society? I hope so! Let me know your thoughts.
Midweek Organizing Quick Tips
Actionable tips that you can do quickly on a busy day that help your home be more organized and functional.
Quick Tip 1 - Focus on the Function
When we dive into an organizing project, we want to come out of it with a really nice looking space.
There’s only one flaw with this thought process.
When you focus on how you want the space to look first, then you miss the opportunity to make sure that it works for you.
You want to focus on the function over the fashion.
What will this do for you?
You’ll have a space that you can keep organized. When you are in the space, when you are living life there day in and day out, you’ll be able to put things away easily and so will all the other people that live in your home!
You have the chance to make the space look good too! When you take a bit of time to consider how you and everyone in your family uses the space and organize it accordingly, then you’re able to select the right look, the right bin or basket or shelf.
Later this summer I’ll be sharing exactly how to implement this within The Foundational Elements of Home Organizing Workshop.
The workshop will be limited to 10 participants per session. Add youself to the waitlist to be the first to know when registration opens!
What Makes Organized People Organized
Implementing the foundational elements of home organizing. Implemented in a way that makes sense to them. In a way that works for them, their family and their current season of life.
Organized people are organized because they’ve figured out what works for them.
Let’s work together to figure out what works for you.
Aw we have guinea pigs too!
