This is Real Life
Emotional rollercoaster.
Managing my own emotions is a full time gig. Trying to help my kids figure out their feelings is really, really hard and time consuming too.
When this happens, the kids needing more of me, more of my time, something has to go!
And what is it that goes first?
I’d like to say that doing the dishes goes first, but honestly it’s me taking care of myself. Meaning, healthy foods and exercise. This has literally been going on for years.
I have finally told myself… and I’m not saying that it will work for the long haul, but I’m hopeful… I deserve to be healthy. I deserve it.
Now, does that mean that I’m going to ignore the kids when they need more of me? Absolutely NOT!
What it does mean, is that I will choose something else to come off the list. I will intentionally decide what I’m not going to do so that I can be there for them.
And really, it could very well be letting some of the cleanliness and organization of my house go.
I’m sharing with you, because I never thought I could let anything go. I had to do it all. This is your pass, this is permission to let something go if you’re feeling overwhelmed by life and motherhood!
You are amazing! You deserve to be happy.
Midweek Organizing Quick Tip
Actionable tips that you can do quickly on a busy day that help your home be more organized and functional.
Quick Tip 1 - “Inbox zero” isn’t realistic
OK. So. Initially I wrote “inbox zero” is stupid, but I felt like it’s too negative. Yet, it’s so accurate!
Regardless of how many emails you have in your inbox, you’ll want to start small. Starting with a small chunk will help you create a process that works for you.
The point of this quick tip is for you to make progress, not only in reducing the number of emails you have in your inbox, but to start developing a process.
I realize there are tools out there that can help you clear your inbox, but much like hiring a professional organizer, you cannot leave it up to someone else to determine what is important to you. Unfortunately, nobody else can determine what is or is not an email you need to keep.
I recommend setting a timer. Commit to working for a certain amount of time. If you are very overwhelmed by the task at hand, start with 2 minutes. You can delete a lot of emails in 2 minutes!
